摘要: 阿瑟·纽肖尔姆（Arthur Newsholme，1857-1943）英国内科医生和医疗卫生官员。他运用统计学方法分析疾病的病因，创建了结核病疫情自愿报告制度，揭示了英国婴儿高死亡率与环境卫生有关的真相，开展了妇幼福利计划、结核病医疗服务和性病特别服务计划。他在宗教环境中长大，却一直用科学的方法去造福人类健康，促进和传播公共卫生事业。

Abstract: Arthur Newsholme (1857-1943) was a British physician and medical health officer. He applied statistical methods to analyze the causes of disease, established voluntary reporting system of tuberculosis, revealed truth about relationship between high infant mortality and environmental health in the UK, and launched maternity and child welfare schemes, tuberculosis medical services and special service for venereal diseases. Although he grew up in religious environment, he has always used scientific methods to benefit human health, promoted and spread public health.
